In Power Generation, the heart of a power generation plant is the turbine-generator. It is critical that this large, expensive machinery operates reliably and with as little downtime and maintenance as possible. The excitation current for the generators is transferred to steel collector rings by means of a sliding electrical contact utilizing carbon brushes.
